Remembrance flag

We shared with you recently that our students have been busy designing a remembrance flag for the G15 project.

Grace and Leigh in year 10 are now delighted to share with our community the finished result. The design of the flag includes the famous Gloster Hawker, pioneered by Sir Frank Whittle and his company. Whittle had many years of trial, error and testing, with his dream finally being realised when Britain’s first jet powered aircraft, the Gloster Aircraft Company's E28/39 Pioneer, took off from Brockworth airfield on April 8th 1941. Swifts fly gracefully alongside with speed and power towards the sun, symbolising hope and prosperity. All tied up with our colours of Henley Bank, with blue linking to sorrow and sadness felt by many in the years of war and yellow symbolising remembrance, hope, joy and honour.
