We are absolutely delighted to report our fantastic 2018 GCSE results; the first for Henley Bank High School.  Significant improvements have been made in just two terms across a range of subjects since the school joined the Greenshaw Learning Trust in January 2018.

The percentage of students achieving a Grade 4 (equivalent to an old C grade) in English and Maths has risen by 7% to 47%.  There have also been increases in the percentage of students achieving both core qualifications at Level 5 (24%).  Particular improvements have been seen in Maths where 9% more students achieved Grade 4 and 10% more students achieved Grade 5.

Due to the changing nature of qualifications no school is able to publish an accurate and official progress 8 figure until the Department of Education releases this in December. However, we have seen a significant improvement in the initial figure that has been calculated on last year’s formula. This gives us a score which equates to nearly half a grade more for all students in all subjects compared with 2017.

These results are evidence of the impact that Henley Bank High School is having on the outcomes and life chances of its students. We fully expect to kick on from this position to ensure that Henley Bank High School is one of the top performing schools in the country over the coming years.

In addition, there have been some exceptional individual student outcomes. We are absolutely delighted that hard work, dedication and fantastic teaching has enabled our students to achieve the very best grades across the board. The students below have achieved 5 or more A and A* equivalencies (7-9).

Anna Birukova (9 GCSEs at A*A); Nadva Birukova (9 GCSEs at A*A); Grace Fowles (9GCSEs at A*A) Samuel Newman (7 GCSEs at A*A); Mia Freeman (7 GCSEs at A*A) and Joshua Wood (6 GCSEs at A*A)

Headteacher, Bradley Nash said “ Our GCSE results clearly show the rapid progress that Henley Bank High School has made and we would like to congratulate all our students on their well-deserved success; they have been incredible. They have been really well supported by their families, teachers and community alike. I am incredibly proud to be the Headteacher of such a progressive, positive and successful school and I am hugely excited about what the future holds for our wonderful school”
