Year 8 - Rugby Fixture

Henley Bank High School VS Severn Vale School
As the game kicked off in conditions similar to those expected for the upcoming Rugby World Cup in Japan, both teams looked up for it and ready to charge into battle!
Severn Vale stormed into an early lead after some strong forwards work was capitalised upon by their pacey backs, who scored 2 quick unanswered tries. Henley Bank were quick to fight back with some powerful gain line work by Jamie to give Conrad a chance to capitalise and get one back.
The first half remained a tight battle, with both teams not willing to give an inch! Severn Vale went into the break leading by 2 tries, with the score 3-5.
Half time was welcomed by both teams in the intense heat! With some water on board, and tactics adapted, Henley Bank High School captain Luke kicked off for the second half. Luke then continued in fine form during the early stages of the second half, creating opportunities for himself, Eastwood and Knight to all cross the line. Some outstanding foot work from the Severn Vale centre to carve through the heart of the resolute Henley Bank High School midfield led to the scores being 6-6 with 10 minutes to go.
Severn Vale then closed out the game with a couple of moments of brilliance from a front row player to break through, and score from within his own half, a speedy winger with a taste for scoring tries and a captain with a side step Shane Williams would have been proud of to go into a comfortable 9 - 6 lead. After losing captain Whitmore to a knee injury following a try saving tackle, Henley Bank High School could have conceded defeat - but their character shone through and they fought hard during the final seconds of the game, with Knight again crashing his was over in the final play of the game!
Final Score: Henley Bank High School 7 - 9 Severn Vale School
Man of the Match: Conrad
