Kier Construction and UoG Trip

On Friday 29th September 30 year 10 Geography students were able to go on a trip to Kier Construction and the University of Gloucester, to see in action Urban Planning and Regeneration.

The students visited Kier to hear about the County Council's plans for the city, and in particular the area surrounding the Bus Station, which is to be residential apartments, offices and a boutique hotel.  They were able to meet the professionals working within Kier, including Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers, and were able to ask a range of questions about careers and how Geography fits in with Construction.

In the afternoon they went to University of Gloucestershire, where they had a session on Urban Planning, delivered by a Professor of the subject.   The students worked in small groups to create plans for the area surrounding the multi story carpark near the docks, and then fed this back to the whole group.

All students thoroughly enjoyed themselves; it was a really informative and interesting experience.
